Ready for the best snack to keep you cool all summer long? Frozen yogurt dots. It’s a simple idea for healthy snacks for kids—but honestly, I also find myself heading to the freezer when I need a bit of something sweet! These peanut butter frozen yogurt dots are a healthy treat and kids go crazy over them. And yes, I mean crazy. Our son Larson goes over to the freezer on a regular basis asking for a froyo dot (saying “Pleasssseeee?”). Of course, I’m happy to give him these peanut butter frozen yogurt dots because they’re made with organic yogurt and have no refined sugar. How could I say no?! Keep reading for how to make frozen yogurt dots, and few pics of Larson’s baby blues as he stuffs his face with this easy frozen yogurt dessert!

How to make frozen yogurt dots

There are lots of articles on the internet for how to make frozen yogurt dots, and many of them say to simply freeze flavored yogurt into dot shapes. However, Alex and I found that freezing straight yogurt has a very icy texture. Also the flavor of those yogurt dots tastes very flat, since freezing dulls flavor. So, we wanted to create a frozen yogurt dots recipe that was both creamy and delicious. Enter our peanut butter frozen yogurt dots! Adding peanut butter keeps the texture creamy and adds protein. And a bit of maple syrup and vanilla amps the flavor of the healthy froyo just enough.

For our frozen yogurt dots, we used organic Stonyfield plain whole milk Greek yogurt. You can also use plain YoBaby containers (don’t substitute other brands because the YoBaby texture is very thick and perfect for piping!). What is YoBaby? You may remember us talking about Yo Baby in past posts: it’s organic yogurt for kids 6 months to 2 years with added bb-12 specifically for baby’s gut health. Larson loves it, and there’s always some in our refrigerator! To make the frozen yogurt dots, you simply place the yogurt mixture into a pastry bag and pipe it onto a baking sheet. If you don’t have a pastry bag, you can also use a ziplock bag and then cut off the tip and use it to pipe the dots. And the lazy mama trick: don’t use a pastry bag at all, just use a spoon to make thin circles of yogurt on the baking sheet!

How to keep mom and baby cool in the summer

These peanut butter frozen yogurt dots are our number one tip for keeping mom and baby cool in the summer months! They can double as both healthy snacks for kids and healthy desserts for kids! (We like using our frozen yogurt dots as a healthy dessert for Larson so he thinks it’s a special treat!) A few other tips for staying cool:
  • Splash park! We have a splash park within walking distance of our house which is the perfect summertime activity.
  • Kiddie pool! It’s even better to get cool in the backyard. Larson loves splashing in our kiddie pool too.
  • Homemade popsicles! If you don’t make these frozen yogurt dots, try homemade popsicles! Here’s our strawberry basil popsicles that also feature Greek yogurt.
Here are a few pics of Larson enjoying his frozen yogurt dots this summer! Let us know in the comments below if you give them a try.
